Orthodontic treatment based on a thorough diagnosis

After recording the orthodontic findings and carrying out thorough diagnostics, we work out the right treatment path, taking your individual needs and wishes into account.

The planned correction takes into account the type and severity of the misalignments or malformations as well as bone growth and the stage of tooth eruption.

The treatment plan is based on the diagnostic records: digital X-ray images, facial photographs and models of the jaws, which are analysed and evaluated in detail for the individual planning.

Model analysis

In order to measure the teeth and jaws precisely, we take impressions of the upper and lower jaw and produce a model from them that allows an accurate analysis of the misalignment.

On the basis of the model, the X-ray image and the clinical findings, we determine which appliance is used, in what order treatment takes place and what treatment period is to be expected.

The key facts at a glance

  • Every treatment plan is based on the clinical findings, digital X-ray images, facial photographs and jaw models.
  • Impressions of the upper and lower jaw are used to produce a model for precisely measuring the misalignment.
  • The plan takes into account the type and severity of the misalignment, bone growth and the stage of tooth eruption.
  • The appliance, the sequence of treatment steps and the expected duration of treatment are determined.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens before the braces are fitted?
Before treatment begins there is the diagnostic stage: clinical examination, impressions for jaw models, facial and dental photographs and, as a rule, a panoramic X-ray. Only on this basis is the individual treatment plan drawn up.
Why are impressions of the teeth taken?
The impression produces an exact model of the upper and lower jaw. It allows the available space, tooth widths and bite position to be measured – things that cannot be assessed precisely in the mouth alone. Later the model also serves as a reference for the treatment progress.
How long does it take from the first appointment to getting braces?
The initial examination is followed by the appointment for the diagnostic records. Once models, photographs and X-rays have been evaluated, we discuss the completed treatment plan with you. This usually takes a few weeks, depending on the findings and the response from the health insurer.
Will I know in advance how long the treatment takes and what it costs?
Yes. The treatment plan records which appliance is used, in what order treatment takes place and what treatment duration is to be expected. Costs and any personal contributions are discussed with you before treatment begins.
